Brother Buckner was initiated an Entered Apprentice Mason on April 9th, passed to Fellowcraft on June 16th and raised to Master Mason on September 4, 1947. He served in the various offices and was Master of the Lodge in ______.
Thomas E. Buckner, 84 of Abilene, passed away, December 5, 2004 at a local hospital. Services will be held Thursday at 10:30 A.M. at the Lytle South Baptist Church, with Pastor Rodney Watson officiating. Burial will be at Elmwood Memorial Park under the direction of North's Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6-7:30 P.M. Wednesday at North's Funeral Home, 242 Orange St.
Mr. Buckner was born June 30, 1920 in Satin, Texas to Sheldon and Lillie Buckner. He married Janice Maxwell June 16, 1987 in Southlake, Texas. He was a Veteran of the Army Air Corp and served in Word War II, in the European Theater. He moved to Abilene in 1950, and worked for Halliburton Oil Company for over 25 years as a tool service technician.
Mr. Buckner was a member of the Lytle South Baptist Church. A member of the Masonic Lodge, where he was a 32nd degree Mason and a Scottish-Rite Shriner. He was a member of the VFW Post 2012. In later years, Mr. Buckner enjoyed outdoor activities including golf and motorcycle riding. He cherished his affiliation and membership with the West Texas Chapter of the Harley Owner Group (HOGS).
Mr. Buckner was preceded in death by his parents; two wives; Lavelle Allen and Helen Louise Birmingham.
He is survived by his loving wife, Janice Buckner; one son; Sheldon Buckner of Flower Mound, Texas; two daughters; Juanell Potter of Midland, Texas and Nova Jean Jacobson of Balch Springs, Texas; one stepson, Phillip Squyres of Los Angeles, California; one brother, Robert Dale Buckner of Irving, Texas, thirteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
