Carl Fred (Pat) McNeel, Jr.
(1927-1985)

    Brother Pat McNeel was born the first child of Carl Fred McNeel, Sr. and Juanita Haryale McNeel in Cross Plains, Texas on February 14, 1927.  He had one sibling, Joe Harmon McNeel.  Pat graduated from Cross Plains High School in the class of 1944 and subsequently served in the U. S. Army as a Military Policeman stationed in Greenland.

    Pat Jr. married Margaret Ann Clark in Cross Plains on June 3, 1948.  Two children, Carl Fred (Freddy) McNeel, III (1949-2000) and Susan A. McNeel, were born to them.  One grandson, Andrew Patrick McNeel was born to Fred and Debbie McNeel on September 15, 1982.

    Pat owned and Operated McNeel Pipe and Supply through the 1950's oil boom with his father Pat Sr., until 1966.  Pat and Margaret Ann bought and operated the McNeel Insurance Agency until his death on January 24, 1985.

    Brother Pat was initiated an Entered Apprentice Mason on January 14, 1954, passed to Fellowcraft on February 11, 1954, and raised to Master Mason on November 11, 1954.  He served as Worshipful Master of Cross Plains Lodge No. 627 during Masonic year 1957-1958.  He received the Twenty-five Year Masonic Service Award on August 7, 1981.  He served as Worthy Patron of Cross Plains Chapter No. 455, Order of The Eastern Star in 1958 when Margaret Ann was Worthy Matron.  Pat was a member of the Maskat Temple in Wichita Falls, Texas where he went through the Order of the Shrine with their son Carl Fred.

    Brother Pat was a member of the First Baptist Church.  He also served his community as a member of: Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Woodsmen of the World, the Cross Plains City Council, Cross Plains Housing Board and United Fund.  Pat was an exemplary Mason responsible for many following in his Masonic footsteps.  He was well liked and is fondly remembered by his fraternity brothers and many friends.
