John D. Isenhower
1914-2008

Brother John Davis Isenhower was born July 30, 1914, in
Putnam, Callahan County, Texas. He graduated from Putnam High School in May of 1932. He attended Abilene Christian College two years, 1932- 1934. John
D. served as Mayor of Putnam for several terms.
He was on the Callahan
County Hospital Board several terms
and served on The Lower Clear Fork Soil and Water Conservation District
for 25 years. He was on the Putnam School Board for 30 years
and has been an NOAA Weather Observer since 1946..
John D. married
Roberta Nell Pruet,
the daughter of Elison and Rubye Gunn Pruet, September 18, 1936 by the
pastor of the Baptist Church, Rev. F. A. Hollis. To this marriage
nine children were born: Mary Helen,
John Doyle, (John Doyle was born on Friday 13), Rubye Elizabeth,
James Royce, Linda Louise, Vivian Gay, Martha Elaine, David
Elison, and Larry Donald.
Brother Isenhower petitioned
the Putnam Masonic Lodge 1047 A.F. & A.M.
on October, 4, 1944. He was initiated
Entered Apprentice on November 2 ,
1944, passed to Fellowcraft on December 6, 1944 and raised to Master Mason on January
12, 1945. He
served as Junior Warden 1945-46,
Senior Warden 1946-47, Master of the Lodge 1947-48.
He was District Deputy Grand-Master of the 74th District during 1948-49.
He served as Secretary of Putnam Lodge 1047
A.F. & A.M., from 1953 until it merged with Baird Lodge
522 A.F. & A.M.
on January, 10, 1979.
After the Putnam Lodge merged with the Baird Lodge John D. served
in most of the offices, being Master in 1983-84, and 1984 -85, and
1989-90. Elected Secretary of Baird Lodge, 1990, serving about six years.
He became a dual member of Cross Plains lodge No. 627 where he
continues to be a member in regular attendance.
John D. has been consistently
active in the Cross Plains and Baird Lodges. He has conferred innumerable
Masonic Degrees. He has taught many brothers in the work, held
virtually every Masonic certificate and distinction including the Golden
Trowel Award in 1991.. and has been Worthy
Patron of Cisco Chapter 461, Order of The Eastern Star 9 times.
John D.
Insenhower is a honorable and noble man who readily contributes to his
family, his community, his Lodge, and to humanity.
He is a member of the Church of Christ and until receiving his final
summons
lived with his family on the Putnam, Texas home place, that his father bought in 1879. (01/10/08)
