Euclid Kenneth (E.
K.) Coppinger
(1901-1992)

Brother E. K.
Coppinger was born to Thomas Allen and Minnie Texas Coppinger in Dayton, Tennessee on August 21,
1901. When E. K. was three years old his parents, ten children, and
a smuggled dog boarded a train for Putnam, Texas. The Coppinger
family settled on a farm two miles east of Cottonwood, Texas where five
more children were born to the Coppingers for a total of 8 boys and 7
girls.
Bro. E. K. grew up
on the farm, helping his daddy and brothers support their large
family. When he started working away from home he worked in the oil
field.
Bro. Coppinger
married Alice Louise Farr of Rising Star, Texas on December 24,
1928. They began married life in Hamlin, Texas. A daughter,
Dorothy June was born on November 6, 1929, and some six years later a son,
Joe Kenneth on April 18, 1936. By this time they were living just
1/2 mile east of the Coppinger home place where he grew up. These
were hard times and Bro. E. K. did whatever he could to make a living,
such as delivering ice, trading, buying and selling radios, and some
farming. He worked several years selling cars for Bishop Chevrolet
Company in Cross Plains before retiring.
Brother Coppinger
was initiated an Entered Apprentice Mason on February 21, 1946, passed to
Fellowcraft on April 11, 1946 and raised to Master Mason on May 14, 1946.
After occupying most of the Lodge offices, he found his calling as Steward
which duties he executed faithfully for many years.
He and Alice were
members of the Cross Plains Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star and of the First United Methodist
Church. Bro. Coppinger passed to the Celestial Lodge on September
29, 1992.
